Hydration
One of the simplest ways to improve your quality of life is being hydrated!
A normal, sedentary person needs to drink at least 1/2 of their body weight in oz of water per day TO BE MINIMALLY HYDRATED.
Most of us take it for granted or flat out ignore our hydration levels because we drink other fluids thinking they will do the same as water. This is the furthest from the truth and can have some serious negative impacts on the body if we aren't diligent enough with our water intake.
As a paramedic, I've lost count of the 911 calls where a person's hydration level was a factor in their illness.
We have damn near 100% control over our ability to remain hydrated through our choices. I say damn near because there are certain diseases that can impact how our body uses water, like Diabetes, Celiac Disease, Crohn's, POTS, and Sjogren's.
Being hydrated is so important for everyone!
Some people may need to drink more water than others due to:
Medications
Medical Weight Loss
Exercise/workouts
Athletic competition and training
Traveling
Sickness
At times, IV therapy needs to be utilized to help with hydration.
This is where THR' IV Wellness redefined comes into play.
Be it with or without vitamins and minerals, IV hydration can significantly improve the body's hydration levels!

2. Things I would Never say or recommend as a Certified Nutritionist
For the next 10 THR' IV Wellness Redefined Newsletters, we are going to look at specific topics that have been brought to my attention through our clients, through working in EMS, through social media, and through life.
This month, we look at # 1: Fad Diets.
Fad Diets have been around for DECADES.
Fad Diets get created when a person wants to make money. The people who create them can be celebrities, MLM companies, charlatans, or even doctors (or other medical professionals) who cherry-picked science-based evidence to fit their fad diet narrative.
That's beyond scary.
Now, your diet is everything you consume to fill your nutrition needs. Some people may need a specific diet due to a medical condition or to prepare for a specific athletic competition.
If you are not a person who has a medical condition that requires a specific diet nor are you preparing for an athletic competition...JUST SAY NO TO FAD DIETS!
If you are wanting to have better nutrition habits or are looking to lose weight, there is a right way that is sustainable.
Fad diets are the ABSOLUTE WRONG WAY to go about improving your nutrition habits and losing weight sustainably.
This is where THR' IV Wellness Redefined and What the HALE Fitness and Nutrition come into play.
Having a Certified Nutritionist help you navigate your nutrition habits and meet you on your level, can greatly improve your quality of life and help you reach your goals!
Take a look at the following graphics for more detail about Fad Diets!
3. Fact VS Fiction
There is so much misinformation about GLP-1 medications floating around the social media world by influencers, grifters, charlatans, and even people who should know better.
We work with clients who are on GLP-1 medications. We have to be well educated on what they can and can't do, be ready to answer questions, help dispel myths and misinformation, and work with other medical professionals and providers to ensure the best possible care, education, products and programs for their success in a healthy, sustainable way.
Let's attack today's myth...
GLP-1 medications eliminate your appetite.
The truth/fact...
GLP-1 medications such as semaglutide and GLP-1, GIP tirzepatide are not appetite suppressants. These medications slow down gastric emptying, which makes a person feel full sooner and for longer. GLP-1 medications also help calm "food noise" which can lower cravings and the constant thoughts of food. All of this allows the person to consume less, causing a calorie deficit, and thus losing weight and body fat, without going to extremes. GLP-1 medications also help regulate blood sugar.

10 Things I Would Never Recommend as a Certified Nutritionist – Part 2 – We're continuing our series by discussing another common nutrition practice that may be doing more harm than good, along with healthier, science-backed alternatives.
-
Fact or Fiction? – Test your nutrition and wellness knowledge as we separate common health myths from evidence-based facts.

1. Stay Hydrated
Hot temperatures, increased physical activity, and time spent outdoors can quickly lead to dehydration. Water is essential for regulating body temperature, supporting digestion, maintaining energy, and helping your muscles and joints function properly.
Healthy Habit: Carry a reusable water bottle wherever you go and sip throughout the day. If you're exercising or spending extended time in the heat, consider replenishing electrolytes, especially if you're sweating heavily. Utilizing IV hydration therapy at THR' IV Wellness Redefined can also help with dehydration symptoms!
2. Fill Your Plate with Seasonal Produce
Summer brings an abundance of fresh, nutrient-rich fruits and vegetables that are both delicious and affordable. Colorful produce provides vitamins, minerals, antioxidants, and fiber to support your immune system, heart health, digestion, and overall wellness.
Healthy Habit: Aim to fill half of your plate with colorful fruits and vegetables at each meal. Fresh berries, watermelon, tomatoes, cucumbers, peaches, zucchini, and leafy greens are excellent summer choices.
3. Keep Moving
Take advantage of the longer days by incorporating more movement into your routine. Exercise doesn't have to be intense to be effective—consistency matters more than perfection.
Healthy Habit: Strive for at least 30 minutes of physical activity most days of the week. Walking, swimming, cycling, hiking, gardening, or playing outside with your family all contribute to better physical and mental health.
4. Prioritize Rest and Recovery
Busy summer schedules can make it tempting to sacrifice sleep, but recovery is essential for your body to repair, recharge, and perform at its best. Quality sleep also supports immune function, hormone balance, and healthy metabolism.
Healthy Habit: Aim for 7–9 hours of quality sleep each night. Create a cool, dark sleep environment, maintain a consistent bedtime, and give yourself time to unwind before bed.
5. Enjoy Summer in Balance
Vacations, cookouts, and celebrations are part of what makes summer enjoyable. Rather than striving for perfection, focus on making balanced choices that allow you to enjoy your favorite foods while still supporting your health goals.
Healthy Habit: Build your meals around lean protein, fruits, vegetables, whole grains, and healthy fats most of the time, while allowing yourself to enjoy special treats without guilt. Consistency over time—not perfection—is what leads to lasting results.
Your July Wellness Challenge

10 things I would NEVER say or recommend as a Certified Nutritionist
Today, we will discuss number 2 of the 10 things I would NEVER say or recommend as a Certified Nutritionist...
Any MLM products or companies.
There are several reasons why I can't stand MLM companies and products...
They are extremely predatory with their business practices on many levels.
Their products and programs are unhealthy and flat out dangerous to the body and mind.
They are ridiculously high priced.
They flat out don't work.
They skew science-based information and evidence to support the claims for their products and programs.
They aren't 3rd party quality controlled, so there's no way to know if what you're getting is the actual product at the dosage listed.
As a Certified Nutritionist, I will NEVER Recommend ANY MLM companies or products... EVER!
ANYONE who is selling MLM products or working for an MLM company, either 1. Doesn't give a shit about your health or well-being and just want to make money or 2. They drank the MLM Kool-Aid and still want to make money off you.
Either way, if you want to improve your nutrition habits, steer clear of ANY and ALL MLM products and companies.

THE ONLY WAY TO LOSE BODY FAT/WEIGHT IS BY BEING IN A CALORIE DEFICIT
CARDIO IS:
The only way to exercise your heart muscle.
The only way to improve cardiovascular endurance.
CARDIO CAN:
Help put you in a calorie deficit which can improve body composition.
Improve mobility.
Improve blood flow.
Improve mood.
Improve quality of life.
Be steady state or intervals or HITT
CARDIO IS NOT:
A replacement for strength training.
The best way to lose body fat/weight.
CARDIO CAN'T:
Have the same results as strength training.
Burn fat the way that has been perpetuated by influencers both past and present.
Cardio is an ESSENTIAL part of overall health and wellness for many reasons which is why it should NEVER be ignored and should ALWAYS be part of a well rounded exercise regimen.
